5th Çanakkale Design Market Workshops
As part of the 5th Çanakkale Design Market, held with the theme of Upcycling, workshops highlighting creative and sustainable design practices took place.
June 20, Friday – Polyurea Workshop with Yıldız Çapkan and Volkan Babaotu
In this special workshop conducted by Yıldız Çapkan and Volkan Babaotu, waste forms of polyurea, a material used in vehicle armor coatings, were upcycled and brought together with art and design. Participants created experimental surfaces using the rigid, amorphous, and organic forms of polyurea to make collages, abstract paintings, and their own visual narratives.

June 20, Friday – Vegan Candle Workshop with Goatzcandles
In this workshop led by Seçil Türedi (Goatzcandles), participants produced their own vegan candles using containers they brought with them. Excluding clay, concrete, and plaster, containers made of various materials up to 250 ml in size were used. Participants both contributed to upcycling and enjoyed an unforgettable experience.

June 20, Friday – Mask Workshop for Children
Held between 14:00 - 17:00, this open workshop invited children aged 7-12 to create their own masks using found materials such as cardboard, strings, feathers, plastics, and paper, combined with vibrant paints. Children who had just received their report cards and started their summer holidays expressed their creativity and designed their own gifts in this delightful workshop.

June 21, Saturday – Games of the Ancient World: Design Workshop
In this workshop led by Oyun Atlası, the timeless games of the ancient world were reinterpreted through contemporary design. Participants used waste fabrics, patterns, and textures to redesign games that have survived for centuries. The workshop offered an exploration of the cultural stories behind ancient games while each participant created their own version.
