StudioMAHAL AIR: Tolga Tüzün

Tolga Tüzün was at the StudioMAHAL Artist Residency Program from 25–31 August!

During this period, Tüzün developed a new composition, drawing inspiration from the diverse spaces, encounters, and materials that Çanakkale offered. As part of the program, he conducted a workshop in which he opened discussions on the aesthetic and technical turning points that have shaped the history of contemporary music. He shared insights into the fundamental elements of compositional practice such as tonality, form, and structure, and explored how electronic music technologies interact with these elements and transform current modes of production.

Tolga Tüzün is recognized for his distinctive compositional approach that combines electronic and contemporary music. His works—ranging from orchestral and solo pieces to chamber and electroacoustic music—have been performed in the United States, Turkey, and various European countries. Parallel to his artistic practice, Tüzün has been a faculty member at Istanbul Bilgi University since 2007.
