Talk within the scope of Vuslat's Emanet / Troy exhibition
As part of the Emanet / Troy exhibition, inspired by Homer’s Iliad and brought by Vuslat to the land of her birth, a talk program was held at the Troy Museum on July 25.
Moderated by Merve Çağlar, the discussion brought together Daphne Vitali (Curator, National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens – EMST), Dr. George Manginis (Academic Director, Benaki Museum, Athens), Deniz Erbaş (Executive Curator, Çanakkale Biennial), Paolo Colombo (Curator of Emanet / Troy), and the artist Vuslat.
The talk explored how the multifaceted mythological and historical narratives of the Iliad are interpreted within contemporary art practice. Participants discussed the ways in which myth can function not merely as a relic of the past but as a dynamic framework for understanding the present. The conversation also shed light on the exhibition’s production process, the historical memory of Troy, and how contemporary art engages with and reinterprets this memory.
