CABININ – Çanakkale Biennial Initiative is on the “Best Practices 2022” list!

CABININ – Çanakkale Biennial Initiative is on the “Best Practices 2022” list of UCLG - MEXICO CITY - CULTURE 21 International Award!

The cities included in the “Best Practices 2022” list of the UCLG - MEXICO CITY - CULTURE 21 International Award, that aims to recognise leading cities and individuals that have distinguished themselves through their contribution to culture as a key dimension in sustainable cities are announced. In this context, the city of Çanakkale with the CABININ - Çanakkale Biennial Initiative's "Contemporary Art Habitat for Sustainable Civil Society" project, is selected as a bet practice of "Innovative Sparks".

Since 2006 CABININ is working with the aim of developing and implementing tools and strategies for the citizens to participate equally in the production, sharing, preservation and discovery of culture, and is also committed to developing cultural rights that form the backbone of social ties, human experience and community building during the post COVID-19 process, is now honoured by the UCLG Culture Committee as an innovative practice worthy of being an example at the international level.

CABININ would like to thank all its constituents and supporters who contributed to the candidacy process carried out under the auspices of the Çanakkale City Council, and to EU Program Sivil Düşün for supporting recently CABININ social programs, and to the CultureCivic program funded by the European Union for its infrastructural support.

101 projects from all continents have applied to the "Cities / Local or Regional Governments" category for the 5th edition of the UCLG - MEXICO CITY - CULTURE 21 International Award, which aims to promote best practices in support and promotion of cultural rights in the context of the COVID-19 crisis and post-pandemic recovery. Best Practices, selected from among the applications and announced under the categories of “Innovative Sparks” and “Planning with Care”, will also become good practices in the “OBS”, the database of UCLG
Culture Committee on cities, culture and sustainable development. The cities that will win the first place among the Best Practices of 2022 will be awarded at the Ceremony to be held in Mexico City in September 2022 in the context of Mondiacult 2022.
